Let’s take a trip down memory lane, and get ready for some serious nostalgia!
When I was younger I have such fond memories of trying to do well in school. Every time I brought home a report card I was sure to have straight A’s because if I did, that meant a Season Pass to AstroWorld where I could ride rollercoasters to my heart’s content all summer long!
So here are todays supercars compared to Astroworld’s long but not forgotten rollercoasters!
The Viper: Dodge Viper
Climbing to the top and passing through the dark tunnel then hitting the big loop was a-maz-ing!
Looping Starship: Aston Martin DB11
Always had an irrational fear about this one getting stuck upside down, but being that high was a blast!
Greezed Lightnin': Nissan GTR
The best throw you back in your seat rollercoaster of all time, then flip it into reverse for a huge scream!
XLR-8: Lamborghini Huracan
Swinging stories above water and warping around turns has never been so exhilarating!
SWAT: Mercedes AMG GT
Flipping around on this one was crazy. Going up was scary but coming down towards the ground was insane.
Excalibur: Porsche 911 GT3 RS
The best small rollercoaster of the park, and taking this low angled turn made me think of a race track!
Dungeon Drop: Ferrari F12
Dungeon Drop scared the ever living piss out of me, sort of like a V12 Ferrari would... Untamable
Mayan Mindbender: Maserati GranTurismo
A silent sleeper, like the Mindbender in the dark you wouldn't see it coming.
Batman: The Escape / Lamborghini Aventador
It's only fitting the Batman ride would get paired with Bruce Waynes car from The Dark Knight Rises
Texas Cyclone: Acura NSX
The Texas Cyclone reminded me of the NSX because of how effortlessly it takes sharp turns at speed!
Texas Tornado: Audi R8 V10
This crosses all the boxes. The longest, fastest, tallest, coolest of them all - like the R8 it does it all!
Ultra Twister: Ferrari 458 Speciale
Take a huge drop, then spin 360 degrees just to fall and do it backwards. The speciale alike is one of a kind!
Serial Thriller / McLaren 720S
The newest to Astroworld alike the 720S to the world, and thus the most technologically advanced!
Astroway: Bentley Continental GTC
Endless comfort and a smooth ride to the other side of the park or the other side of the city!
Astroneedle: Rolls Royce Wraith
Sit back and enjoy the ride, the Astroneedle like the Rolls Royce is built for comfort and ultimate enjoyment!
I can still remember thinking all day of where I would start, which one to ride first, and which one I would spend the most time on. While curating the perfect plan for the day of adventure I came to quite the abrupt dilemma… I couldn’t decide which rollercoaster was my favorite.How could I ever choose just one to be the best?
Each brought thrills in its own unique way – some would do flips, some would throw you in reverse, some were raw and threw you around the corners like only a wooden rollercoaster could, and then there was Greezed Lightnin’ that launched 0-60mph in under 4 seconds for an upside-down loop!
Forty years later, I found myself in the same situation when I wanted to buy my first supercar. How was I supposed to pick which one, when I wanted to drive them all! I wanted the raw power of the Dodge Viper, I wanted to feel the Ferrari take me quickly through corners, and I wanted to be frightened by the monstrous V12 of the Lamborghini.
That was the moment the Supercar Club came to me and I decided I didn’t want to pick just one – I wanted to drive them all… and now you can too!
